Sarah qualified as a solicitor in September 2007, having focussed on developing her interest in employment law during her Legal Practice Course at Chester College of Law, and her training contact at a Sheffield firm. Upon qualification, Sarah moved to a national firm (based in Nottingham) to pursue her interest in employment law, before joining the Ironmonger Curtis employment team in March 2008.

Sarah is experienced in dealing with a wide range of employment issues. She enjoys dealing with both contentious and non-contentious aspects of the role, from providing general compliance support to her business clients, drafting documents such as contracts of employment, directors’ service agreements and compromise agreements; to litigating employment tribunal cases involving issues such as unfair dismissal and discrimination.

A large proportion of Sarah’s clients are small to medium-sized businesses. Sarah is committed to developing her relationships with these clients and her understanding of their businesses to ensure that she is best-placed to advise and support them.

Sarah also acts for individuals.

Examples of Sarah’s recent work are as follows:

  • Sarah supported one of her Leeds-based company clients through difficult layoff and redundancy processes.
  • Sarah represented a group of South Yorkshire employees in a tribunal case which involved complex TUPE issues.
  • Sarah has designed and delivered bespoke training courses to her business clients to assist and develop their knowledge of specific areas of employment law.
  • Sarah has represented senior employees at disciplinary appeal meetings, where original disciplinary decisions and sanctions were overturned as a result.

On a personal level, Sarah was brought up in North Wales and enjoys visiting her parents there. Sarah is also learning to play golf. But only when the weather’s good!
